Javon Austin-Sarjeant

Board Member, Vice President

Mrs. Javon Austin-Sarjeant was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida. Her love for children started when she had to do a volunteer project for school. She volunteered at The Dick Howser Center and fell in love with a little boy named Camden. Javon currently works for The Children’s Home Society as the Family and Community Engagement Coordinator for Community Partnership Schools at Sabal Palm Elementary. The passion and love she has for her children doesn’t just stop in the classroom. She also mentors some of the former children she has taught throughout the years.

With over 15 years of experience in the childcare industry she has worked in the Leon County schools, various childcare centers and operated her own in home daycare. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education and Management, and an Advanced Level Director’s Credential.

Javon is a wife and a mother to two beautiful girls and a member of Order of Eastern Star PHA. She enjoys spending time with her family, singing, reading, and coming up with creative ideas.

“I remember when Makayla was doing one of the student’s hair at our school and we just started talking about how it’s a need. She mentioned this idea to me and I told her that it was a great idea. I have seen firsthand what happens when some of our girls come to school and their hair is not done. A lot of them get in trouble or wear hoods to hide the fact that their hair isn’t done. When your hair is done you feel beautiful and get a since of confidence. This is something that Curls For Queens is doing for some of the students at Sabal Palm Elementary School. The girls faces light up and they start walking around and smiling.”
