What hair mean to Makayla?

“In the black culture, hair is so important! I remember the first time I realized that my hair was different from others and that made their hair better than mine, I begged my mom to cut off my hair because I just wanted to fit in. I know its a simple fix but it has such an impact of a person! Personally, I think if you like your hair straight wear it straight, love locs… then rock them, as long as you feel good and that you can conquer the world. However, what I do know is when someone does not feel beautiful it shows up in so many different ways. If a kid does not know how to regulate those emotions it can lead to meltdowns and acting out, but in reality they are asking for help and a quick hair style in conjunction with some emotional support can go a long way.”
