ABOUT US

One day at a local elementary school, a young lady was walking slowly, with her head low and hood on. When she was asked what was wrong, she said she was being teased because her hair was not done and she really did not want to go back to that class. Our founder realized there was a need that was identified there and it was the spark that led our organization, Curls for Queens, Inc. to be an organization with the purpose to uplift students’ spirits and removing this barrier for students and their parents. We originally had a hair drive and salon days but have branched off to replicate this same support for other schools & counties.

Curls for Queens, Inc. (C4Qs) is a self-esteem improvement initiative focused on providing hair support and education. We aim to provide beauty support, hair care experiences and education to brown and black girls in K-12. We aim to increase girl’s self-esteem and relieve economical hardships for all queens with kinky, coily & curly hair.

"I can’t even put into words how great my experience was today with helping and giving back to my community. #CurlsforQueens was such a great event! Created to give young girls at Sabal Palm Elementary to boost their confidence. Showing them they are beautiful inside and out! Such a great turnout with tremendous amount of volunteers, stylists and enough donations then we could even use! It was such an honor to be asked to volunteer to help style these young ladies crown. Thank you!"

"I had the opportunity to make a difference for these young queens in Tallahassee 💗 It was honestly one of the most rewarding experiences, seeing these young girls come in super excited to get their hair done! I was probably more excited than they were because as Black Women, our hair is how we express ourselves and one of the first things anyone notices about you!! The two little ladies hair I did could not stop smiling and looking in the mirror once they were finished and they gone be the two baddest 2nd graders at recess"
